Liberton are crowned East Bowl winners

Have your say

Liberton rugby club were today confirmed as winners of the East Regional Bowl after an SRU appeals tribunal last night upheld a Championship Committee decision that conquerors St Boswells fielded three ineligible players.

The Borderers have now been disqualified from representing the East against Highland in tomorrow’s National Bowl final at Cumbernauld and will be replaced by Glenrothes, who were beaten semi-finalists.

A decision to dock St Boswells 13 points from their East Division Three tally means they will still get promotion and leaves second-place Liberton sweating on the outcome of a match involving Gala YM, two points behind in third, and who must visit Queensferry on April 26.
