North Berwick captain Adam Macnair was pleased his side managed to shake off a rusty start to get into their stride and lift the BT Edinburgh Regional Shield on Saturday.
The 30-11 win over East Lothian rivals Dunbar at Recreation Park puts North Berwick into the national Shield semi-finals and one game away from a finals day at BT Murrayfield.
The last time they were there on the big stage was in 2009/10 when they lifted the Bowl.
On Saturday’s victory Macnair said: “We haven’t had a lot of games recently due to cancellations and the internationals and early on it showed.
“However, in the second half we played some good rugby and it was really pleasing to come away with the victory.”
Brian Buchanan, Ben Inglis, Iain Dove and Grant Craig scored North Berwick’s tries with Liam West kicking two penalties and two conversions.
There were celebrations on Saturday night, but the North Berwick players are already foc- using on this coming weekend’s vital third versus second match with Berwick in BT East One.
Meanwhile, Ross High made it double joy in the county as they lifted the BT East Regional Bowl. In the home final they saw off Gala YM 17-3.
Steven Ketchin and Matthew Martin scored the tries for the men from Tranent against the Borderers while Nathan Hood was spot on with a penalty and two conversions.
In a rearranged BT East Three match Queensferry won 28-13 at RDVC.
