Murrayfield Wanderers bask in Sarah Beaney Cup win

Murrayfield Wanderers full-back Chloe Rollie said it was 'a dream come true' to lift a trophy at BT Murrayfield after they won the Sarah Beaney Cup.

The Capital side defeated their great rivals Hillhead/Jordanhill 30-10 and Scotland cap Rollie showed her talent with two tries. She is in her first season at the club having moved from Melrose and it was the first time she had played at the national stadium since a youth.

“To play at Murrayfield is something I have been keen to do for a while and to do it with this group of players and score tries makes it extra special,” she said.

Hills had taken the lead through a Megan Gaffney try, but scores from Helen Nelson and Rollie saw Wandies 10-5 up at half-time.

Rollie’s converted try after the break made it 17-5 before a Jemma Forsyth try for Hills. Two Rhona Lloyd tries and a Lisa Martin penalty sealed it for Wandies.

Meanwhile, Watsonians 
defeated Stirling County 25-22 to win the BT Women’s Plate and Glasgow University won the BT Women’s Bowl.
