Murrayfield Wanderers won the Sarah Beaney Cup for an amazing 11th time and completed the double for 2014/15 after they edged out Hillhead/Jordanhill 25-22 in a cracking final at BT Murrayfield.

Having already won the top-flight league title, Wandies had raced into a 17-0 lead before the Glasgow side mounted a comeback and went ahead 22-20 at one point. However, with nine minutes remaining Wandies Scotland internationalist prop forward Lisa Robertson scored the winning try.

Lisa Martin, the Wanderers captain, said: “It’s a memory that’s going to stay with us forever – it’s not often you get the chance to play on the BT Murrayfield pitch.”

After scrum-half Sarah Law had taken a quick tap to dive over for the opening try for Wandies, winger Rhona Lloyd showed great pace to score two tries but Sarah Smith scored a converted try before scores from Konkel and winger Hannah Smith got them back level. Stand-off Martin’s penalty edged Wandies ahead again before centre Megan Gaffney’s try threatened to take the trophy back to the west. That was until Robertson’s late winner.

Emma Jones and Morgane Jarles both scored two tries apiece for Watsonians as the Edinburgh side won the Bowl by beating Morgan Academy 54-5, and Stewartry beat Ayr 36-17 to lift the Plate.
