The Meggetland club have confirmed that Wright will replace Bruce Aitchison and lead the club next season.

The former Peebles and Glasgow Hawks coach parted company with relegated Selkirk recently and said: “This is very much a personal appointment for me, almost like a homecoming.

“As a former player I am looking forward to working with a great bunch of players and helping them reach their true potential.”

Boroughmuir chairperson Ally Hay added: “We’re delighted to welcome Peter to Boroughmuir as head coach and we look forward to working together to develop the foundations built over the last couple of years.”

Aitchison left the club in February after a three-year tenure which saw him achieve promotion to the top-flight and victory over Hawick in last season’s BT Cup final. Wright was capped out of Boroughmuir and went on to play 21 times for Scotland between 1992 and 1996, touring with the 1993 Lions.
