Edinburgh Rugby have parted company witha Namibian prop forward Wicus Blaauw, who was one of coach Alan Solomons’ first signings on arriving in the Capital.
The departure of Blaauw, 28, who made nine starts and 14 substitute appearances in 2013-14 but has yet to play this season due to injury, was announced by Edinburgh on Twitter.
Blaauw arrived from one of Solomons’ former South African regional sides, The Stormers, via Biarritz and enjoyed some success at Edinburgh notably starting the away win at Gloucester in the European Cup.
Over the summer, he underwent groin surgery and appeared to be on the way back when damaging a knee playing for Edinburgh’s A side in September.
Blaauw’s contract was up this summer and Solomons has been repeatedly talking up the prospects of a young Scottish prop, Rory Sutherland, while giving the player a succession of outings.
