Rugby: Tuala is Watsons’ top man

Have your say

Back row Paul Tuala has been named player of the season at Watsonian rugby club.

As well as starring at 15-a-side level Tuala has also been instrumental in assisting ‘Sonians to a successful stint on the Spring sevens circuit. And while the Samoan is unlikely to return to Myreside the club have been gearing up for a swift comeback to the top flight by organising back room staff ahead of tonight’s resumption of fitness training.

Ex-Scotland centre Marcus Di Rollo will remain as head coach alongside former A international winger Conan Sharman who will have charge of defence.

Javier Palacious will be responsible for forwards coaching and fitness with ex-Scotland stand off Andrew Ker taking on the role of team manager.

Meanwhile, as Scotland coach Andy Robinson prepares to unveil a 28-man squad for this summer’s tour Australian opponents are encountering major fitness problems which hamper their planning. Star backs James O’Connor and Quade Cooper are still undergoing treatment after suffering, respectively, kidney and knee injuries.

Scotland will, on June 16, encounter a Fiji side who have today been bolstered following a successful bid to have ACT Brumbies prop Jerry Yanuyanutawa released from Super-15 duties to debut for them.
