Boroughmuir winger Jordan Edmunds is one of five players from outside the BT Premiership’s top four sides named in the Scotland Club XV to meet England Counties at Gala’s Netherdale ground tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).
Coach Phil Smith has selected a team he believes capable of withstanding the physical challenge of opponents who outmuscled the Scots in the corresponding match last season.
Premiership champions Heriot’s supply seven of the 23-man squad, with Jack Turley and Jason Hill in the team and five others on the bench, while 21-year-old Edmunds boosts the Capital contingent in the starting line up to three. Harvey Elms of Currie is also listed among the substitutes.
“We’ve named a side with many new faces but have retained some experience from last year’s campaign,” said Smith. “I have selected players who have been on genuine form in the BT Premiership this season.”
