SCOTLAND will face Wales in the 7th/8th place play-off at the World Rugby U20 Championship in Manchester on Saturday after losing their 5th place semi-final 35-19 to Australia.

Scotland had trailed 14-12 at half-time as Australian tries by Tyrel Lomax and Sione Tuipolotu – both converted by Mack Mason – were countered by scores from Hugh Fraser and Robbie Nairn. Four minutes into the second half, Scott Cummings crossed to give Scotland a 19-14 lead.

However, Tuipolotu got his second try 11 minutes later before Liam Wright scored to give the Aussies a 28-19 lead. With two minutes left, replacement Jordan Jackson-Hope raced through to score the final try of the match for the Aussies.
