Stewart’s Melville have secured the services of former Edinburgh Rugby marketing manager Lindsey Geddes to support efforts aimed at strengthening the club’s financial position.
Geddes, who spent 12 years with Edinburgh, is taking on the recently created post of business development manager. She is tasked to generate income to secure the future of the club and help promote it to a wider audience. The position is being funded by an allocation from the Scottish Rugby Club Sustainability Fund which was made available following the tie up with BT as the principal sponsor of the game in Scotland.
The club has converted to a limited company and the chairman of the new entity, Colin Rigby, said: “No longer are sponsors just willing to hand cash over and be treated like donors, they too now want to receive results not just on the pitch but also off the pitch and the opportunities that being associated with rugby can bring.”
And of his expectations for the new post, he added: “(it) will allow income generation initiatives whilst promoting not only the club, but Scottish Rugby at both local and national level.”
