Head coach David Adamson believes rugby is flourishing at Edinburgh University as they start to look forward to playing the Varsity Match at BT Murrayfield later this year.
In recent times, the flagship encounter between Edinburgh and the University of St Andrews has been staged in London, but on September 26 the match will take place at the national stadium in the Capital. The men’s first XV match will kick off at 6pm while earlier in the day the Ladies XVs will also play on the main pitch and there will be matches between the men’s second and third XVs too.
Adamson, who has just finished his fifth season as head coach, said: “In that time, we have just tried to put good structures in place throughout the university’s rugby programme. We offer something for everyone whether they want to play at a high level or socially and, as well as great facilities, we have good strength and conditioning programmes in place.
“I am pleased that some of our plans have come to fruition and I think university rugby can play a much bigger role in Scottish rugby going forward.
“To have the Varsity Match in Edinburgh will be excellent.”
