Watsonians rugby finished fifth in the Kings of the Sevens standings for 2015 after they reached the last eight of the Jed-Forest Sevens.

After ten tournaments in the Borders the domestic sevens season came to an end at Riverside Park. Gala had already done enough to secure the overall title, but there was still the Jed trophy itself to play for.

With Heriot’s having pulled out on Friday it left four Edinburgh sides in the draw.

In round one a young Stewart’s Melville side lost 29-12 to Melrose with Edinburgh Accies beating Peebles 26-5.

The bottom half of the draw saw Edinburgh University fail to show up so Gala were handed a bye through to the quarter-finals while Watsonians’ defeated Langholm 46-5.

In the last eight Edinburgh Accies were defeated by Hawick 34-5 with Watsonians edged out 21-17 by the home side.

Jed went on to win the event, seeing off Hawick in the final.
