Watsonians will have Club XV cap Scott McLeod playing for them in BT National League One in 2015/16 after he moved to the club from Hawick.

The 25-year-old centre/winger works near Edinburgh and is looking forward to linking up with Watsonians coaches Marcus Di Rollo and Simon Taylor when pre-season gets underway early next month.

He said: “As a Hawick boy I have loved playing for the first team, but the amount of travelling I was doing was becoming hard and I am excited for a new challenge with Watsonians.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the guys at the club and putting in a good pre-season. We know the division will not be easy, but we are looking to challenge towards the top end of the table.

The arrival of McLeod, Hawick’s player of the year last season and a key figure in helping them reach the BT Cup final, is a big boost.

Di Rollo has also added six other new faces to his squad.

Second-row Romain Denonain has made the move from Currie while hookers Darren Miller (Boroughmuir) and Tom Johnson (Falkirk) and back-row Jesse Balemi from the Hamilton Marist club in New Zealand will bolster the pack.

Back-three players Euan McKirdy (GHA) and Mark Bertram (Biggar) will compete for places in the backs. BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy player Ally Miller will switch from Watsonians to Melrose.
