Snooker: Donaldson hits a high on green baize

EDINBURGH LOCARNO snooker club’s professional Scott Donaldson enjoyed one of his best wins to date as he defeated world ranked No.  40 Michael White 4-0 in the second round of the Munich Open qualifying stages held at the Sheffield Snooker Academy.

Donaldson made breaks of 58, 32, 44, 42 and 71, however he had no answer to the awesome break-building of world No. 2 Mark Selby, losing 4-0 in the next round.

There was further disappointment for Michael Leslie, the rookie pro from Bonnyrigg, who lost 4-0 to world No. 27 Robert Milkins in the first round.

Milkins won the opening frame with a run of 45 before doubling his lead by winning a tight second frame as Leslie broke down on 40. Leslie then lost the next on the black before a break of 44 helped Milkins
secure a 4-0 victory.

In the World Amateur Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, Granton’s Craig MacGillivray won his opening group stages match 4-1 against South Africa’s Baek Minhu 4-1. However, despite recovering from 3-1 down to India’s Brijesh Damani to level his next match at 3-3, MacGillivray lost the deciding frame.

Perth’s Bobby Cruickshanks won his opening three matches, losing only a single frame in the process, whilst Glasgow pair Pat McKinney and Lance Little won their opening matches in the Masters Event.
