Snooker: Leslie loses out after Yu Delu wins crucial frame on the black

Bonnyrigg snooker professional Michael Leslie lost 4-1 to China’s Yu Delu in the opening round of the UKPTC event 4 at the South West Snooker
Academy in Gloucester. The 19-year-old lost the opening frame but made breaks of 43 and 60 to level the match.

Leslie then looked as if he would go 2-1 ahead when he made a break of 61, but in a frame that proved pivotal, the Chinese player fought back to get two snookers before clearing the table to win the frame on the black. Further runs of 65 and 33 were then enough for Delu to secure victory.

Four-times world champion John Higgins is through to the last 16 today where he will meet Steve Davis, who Leslie will play on Friday in the Bulgarian Open in Sofia, in a match scheduled to be televised on Eurosport.

Glasgow pair Graeme Dott and Stephen Maguire also won their first-round matches.
