A QUARTET of snooker stars from the Capital will continue their bid for a bit of Scottish snooker history as they pursue their attempts to reach the final of the Scottish National championship tomorrow .
Craig McGillivray, Lee Mein, Robert Carlisle and Ross Vallance, who all play at the Locarno Snooker Club, qualified at their home club last weekend for the quarter-finals of this season’s championship, the sixth and final Main Tour event of the season.
Incredibly, all five events have been won by players based at the Locarno Club, with McGillivray and Carlisle winning two each and Vallance the other, ensuring that a first ever clean sweep for the Capital can still be achieved if one of the quartet lift the National title.
Carlisle and East of Scotland champion Mein battle it out in the opening quarter-final. Vallance takes on Cumbernauld’s Michael Collumb, McGillivray faces Glasgow teenager Chris Totten, whilst Glasgow pair Sean Iqbal and Scott Macfarlane meet in the other last-eight tie.
