Edinburgh’s Derek Dudgeon will play Lee Mein in the final of the East of Scotland Snooker Championship.
Dudgeon followed up his win against defending champion Robert Carlisle with a 4-3 victory over three-times champion Keith Chalmers at the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange to secure his first final appearance.
Mein, who will compete in the European Under 21 championships later this month, won the last two frames over Penicuik’s Michael Gallacher to pocket a 4-2 victory and ensure a new name will be on the trophy. The final is on Wednesday over the best of nine frames at 7pm.
Meanwhile, Granton’s Craig MacGillivray closed the gap on Carlisle at the top of the Scottish Snooker rankings after defeating club mate Ross Vallance in the final of the Scottish Open, Main Tour event 5 at the Locarno Snooker Club. MacGillivray led 3-0 and was in fine form during the encounter making breaks of 85 and 69, and although Vallance made runs of 58 and 59, MacGillivray held on to his lead and secured a 6-3 victory.
