Derek Dudgeon, runner-up in last season’s East of Scotland Snooker Championship, remained on course to go one better in this year’s event after defeating Falkirk’s Jim Ash 3-1 in the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

He will now meet John Williamson in the quarter-finals after Williamson pocketed a 3-1 victory over Seb Zjako.

In the remaining two last-16 matches, Stuart Muir will play three-times champion Keith Chalmers, while 2014 winner Robert Carlisle meets Stevie Dick, who has lifted the trophy on two separate occasions.

Meanwhile, Craig MacGillivray will play Richy McDonald tonight in the final of Event 3 of the Scottish Masters Series at the Red Triangle Club in Cumbernauld. MacGillivray survived a final-frame shoot out with Glasgow’s Scott MacKenzie to prevail 4-3 and book his place in the final.
