Final-frame agony for Carlisle at Scottish Championships

Have your say

Capital snooker ace Robert Carlisle lost out in a final-frame shoot-out to Cumbernauld’s Michael Collumb in the semi-final of the Scottish National Snooker Championship at Glasgow’s Q-Club.

The 6-5 defeat ensured that none of the four Capital players who made the quarter-finals would reach the final.

Carlisle had defeated East of Scotland Champion Lee Mein to reach the semi-finals while Collumb defeated Glasgow’s Sean Iqbal 5-3. Granton’s Craig McGillivray also reached the semis after defeating Glasgow’s Chris Totten 5-3 before losing out to Glasgow’s Scott MacFarlane 6-3. MacFarlane prevented an all-Edinburgh semi-final after a 5-1 victory over Ross Vallance.

MacFarlane will now face Collumb over the best of 13 frames for the national title.
