Lee Mein makes World Under-21 championship last-16

Have your say

Edinburgh’s Lee Mein has reached the last 16 stage of the World Under-21 championships in Dubai.

The 19-year-old, who plays at the Locarno Snooker Club, defeated Ireland’s Daniel Dempsey 4-2 to secure a place last-32 stage against Pakistan’s Hamza Akbar yesterday afternoon. He was then made to battle all the way as the match with Akbar went to a final frame decider before holding his nerve to pot the final pink and black for victory.

Mein will now meet Australia’s Kurt Brown for in a place in the last eight. Glasgow’s Dylan Craig is also through to the last 16.
