Granton’s Craig MacGillivray brought the curtain down on a magnificent season last night, beating Robert Miller 5-3 to win the Scottish National Masters Championship at the Minnesota Fats Snooker Club in Glasgow.
MacGillivray started well, winning the opening frame with a break of 48 before Miller levelled with a run of 45. The Granton ace then raced ahead, winning the next three frames before Miller fought back with two 50 breaks to close the deficit to only one frame. However, MacGillivray made sure there would be no deciding frame, making a break of 50 to secure a 5-3 victory.
MacGillivray said: “After losing out at the Scottish National at the weekend, I was determined to win tonight. Robert came back at me well but I came good at the right time just to get over the finish line. Overall, I have to be delighted with my season.”
The former professional’s victory was his third Masters win in a season in which he finished top of both Scottish Main Tour and National categories.
