Ross Muir shows steel in Sheffield snooker

Former Musselburgh High School pupil Ross Muir is through to the last 32 of Event 2 of Q School at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield after a 4-2 victory over Josh Boileau.

Muir recovered from losing the first frame to level with a break of 63.

After sharing the next two frames, Muir comfortably won the fifth frame to edge in front before a run of 54 in the sixth was enough to secure his place in the next round.

Glasgow pair Dylan Craig beat Australia’s Marc Robertson, brother of former World Champion Neil Robertson, while Ross Higgins came from 3-1 behind to defeat James Burrett 4-3. However, Hamilton’s Rhys Clark lost to England’s Ben Harrison.
