Edinburgh snooker pro Scott Donaldson produced a solid performance to beat Norway’s Kurt Maflin 5-2 and make it to the last-32 stage of the Australian Open and retain his unbeaten run this season.
He will now travel out to China to participate in the last 64 of the Wuxi Classic before flying on to Bendigo in Australia.
Michael Leslie’s run in the qualifiers came to an end last night when he lost a deciding frame to Dumbarton’s Marcus Campbell.
The defeat saw the Bonnyrigg ace narrowly missing out on a place in the last 32 later this month. Leslie made a solid start, making a break of 51 to win the opening frame, before doubling his lead by winning the second frame.
However, Campbell fought back, making a break of 63 in the next frame before going on to lead 3-2. Leslie levelled after a run of 59, but Campbell made 92 to take the lead again. Again, Leslie fought back, levelling the match, but in a close final frame, Campbell won it 69-37.
