Capital players Craig MacGillivray and Lee Mein will battle it out for top spot in the Scottish Main Tour rankings when they meet at the Locarno Snooker Club tonight (7pm).
Both players came through four rounds at the Red Triangle Snooker Club in Cumbernauld at the weekend in the second event of the season.
MacGillivray started out with a 3-1 win over clubmate Graeme Allan before defeating another Lothians player, David Greig, to reach the quarter-finals.
Further wins over Gary Thomson and a whitewash of clubmate Ross Vallance secured his place in the final.
Mein, winner of last season’s East of Scotland Championship, struggled to a 3-2 victory over Jamie Thomson before a convincing 3-1 success over Motherwell’s Michael Collumb. He then defeated Glasgow’s Dylan Craig 3-2 before winning another last-frame decider in a semi-final victory over Chris Totten to reach the final.
Totten had earlier ended the hopes of Robert Carlisle with a 3-1 victory.
Tonight’s final will be played over the best of nine frames.
Meanwhile, the Hugh Eldon Memorial Trophy will be held for the first time this Sunday at the Locarno Snooker Club, starting at 1pm. The handicap tournament is open to all and costs £10 (+£3 table charge) to enter.
