After winning a close first frame on the pink, MacGillivray took control of the match with breaks of 77 and 73 to open up a 3-0 lead in front of a packed Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Corn Exchange.

Carlisle then pulled one back before the interval with runs of 33 and 28 to narrow the deficit to two frames. However, there was to be no comeback for last year’s winner as MacGillivray won the fifth frame on the blue before winning the next on the colours to secure victory.
