Snooker: Doherty’s cue-ball know-how is too much for Leslie

Have your say

Bonnyrigg snooker professional Michael Leslie was unable to reach the final stages of the Gdynia Open, losing 4-0 to former world Champion Ken Doherty at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.

Doherty won the opening frame with a break of 86 and further runs of 59 and 42 were enough to open up a 3-0 lead. Leslie had chances in the fourth frame but a 35 break helped Doherty get in front and helped him secure a 4-0 victory.

Five scots did qualify for the final stages of the event which will take place on October 5-7 in Gdynia, Poland. Stephen Maguire, John Higgins, Graeme Dott, Anthony McGill and Jamie Burnett all secured one of the 32 qualifying places. However Scott Donaldson and Marcus Campbell joined Leslie in missing out. Leslie remains in Sheffield for the qualifying stages of the International Championship where he will meet India’s Aditya Mehta before travelling to Germany where he will face four time World champion John Higgins on Friday.
