Snooker: Edinburgh lose out in counties champs

Have your say

Edinburgh missed out on the title by a single point as West of Scotland won the Scottish County Snooker Championships at Glasgow’s Q Club.

After going down 9-3 to Aberdeen, Edinburgh – led by captain John Taylor – recovered to defeat defending champions Cumbernauld 7-5. A 6-6 draw with the Borders, followed by 8-4 wins over West of Scotland and Dumfries, were just not enough, though.

Locarno snooker club’s Ross Vallance took the tournament’s highest break prize with a 102.

Meanwhile, East of Scotland champion Lee Mein had a good run at the World Under-21 Championships in Bucharest, Romania before losing out 5-3 to England’s Ashley Carty at the last-16 stage.
