Edinburgh’s Lee Mein became the first player to reach the semi-final of the 2014/2015 East of Scotland Snooker Championship.
Mein defeated Dunfermline’s George Smith, surviving a final frame shoot-out to win 3-2 and will now meet either Michael Gallacher (Penicuik) or Barry Campbell (Falkirk) for a place in the final.
Defending champion, Robert Carlisle, who is currently No.1 in Scotland, is still on course to retain the title after reaching the quarter-final stage, where he will meet either John Williamson or Derek Dudgeon. Corstorphine’s Keith Chalmers plays Musselburgh’s Craig Hunter for a place in the semi-finals.
Last year’s finalist Craig MacGillivray suffered a shock opening-round defeat, losing 3-0 to Edinburgh’s Graeme Allen.
