Musselburgh snooker player Ross Muir found five-times World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan just too strong, losing 4-0 in the opening round of European Tour Event 5 in Ruhr, Germany.

O’Sullivan did not really let him settle, making breaks of 59, 46 and 76 in a comfortable victory. It proved to be a disappointing day for the Scottish professionals with Bonnyrigg’s Michael Leslie losing 4-1 to England’s Chris Norbury and Scott Donaldson losing 4-2 to Oliver Lines.

However, Granton’s Craig MacGillivray had a fantastic day at the World Team Masters Championship in Ireland, helping Scotland reach the last four. The former professional and partner by Stirling’s Jim Rushforth enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Ireland to secure a semi-final place against Belgium.

MacGillivray will also feature in the last 16 stage of the 6-Reds tournament where he will meet Ireland’s Michael Judge today.
