Edinburgh Monarchs have issued a ‘come and join us’ call to any young rider to help fill the second reserve spot and complete their team for the 2016 season.

Monarchs had earmarked Aussie Mitchell Davey for the role providing he received a British passport.

But today Monarchs co-promoter John Campbell revealed: ”Our plans for our 2016 team jigsaw have not come to fruition as we had hoped. It now leaves us in the position that with less than two weeks to go before our first meeting we have had to change direction and look for another rider.

“After giving the matter some thought we have decided to throw open the door to all interested parties. Our pre-season practice is at Armadale on Friday and we make the offer to any rider to come along and show us what you can do.

“Our mind is completely open as to who our No.7 will be but of course he must have a starting average of no more than three.”

Whoever is chosen will partner Max Clegg at the tail end.

Any rider interested should contact Monarchs in advance to confirm their attendance.
