Scotwaste have agreed to back Edinburgh Monarchs for a ninth successive season at Armadale in 2014, believed to be the longest running team sponsorship in British speedway.

The West Lothian-based recycling firm have ploughed in excess of £40,000 into the capital club since 2006, and today their recently appointed Managing Director Brian Ramsay told the Evening News that his company are delighted to extend their deal as principal sponsors.

He said: “We did not have any doubt we would be continuing with our association with the Monarchs.

“I’m really keen on speedway and pleased to see Craig Cook is back this season. Monarchs have done well to secure his services again.”

Monarchs chairman Alex Harkess believes Scotwaste’s unbridled support even when the team were in danger of
folding two years ago, was
instrumental in keeping them alive in tandem with loyal supporters who rallied round magnificently after setting up a fighting fund.

Harkess said: “It is vital for the stability of the club that we have a good team sponsorship and our relationship with
Scotwaste over the years has been superb.”
