Stephen Tiffney keen to make up for lost time in comeback fight

Featherweight Stephen Tiffney makes his long-awaited return to the ring tonight '“ eight months after suffering the first defeat of his professional career.

he 29-year-old MGM fighter (8-1), who faces Nicaraguan Johnson Tellez at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, says he is eager to make up for lost time. Tiffney was beaten on points by Capital rival Lewis Paulin in Paisley in December, but insists his mind is focused on what lies ahead.

“I’ve forgotten all about the fight with Lewis now so I’m concentrating on the future,” Tiffney said. I’ve taken time out and I just want to put in a good performance tonight and get back to winning ways.

“With Danny Vaughan now taking over (at MGM) I’ve had a few things to sort out. It’s been frustrating but I’m looking forward to getting in there again. We’ve had positive chats about where I go after this. I’m still expecting a tough six rounds tonight so that’s my focus.

“MGM have now got a bumper deal with BoxNation now so I think the plan is to have a few more shows at the Emirates. It’s maybe the exposure I’ve needed so I think there’s some good times ahead.”
