Turner loses out as Irish rock Scots

CRAIGIELAW’S Jane Turner suffered a sore singles defeat as Scotland succumbed to Ireland on the opening day of the Women’s Home Internationals in Lancashire.

The Scots, the title holders, led 2…-… after the morning foursomes at Hillside but crumbled in the afternoon. Turner, who had been rested in the morning, got off to a flying start to be three up on Emma O’Driscoll after four holes in the anchor match. Despite losing that lead, the Scot edged in front again with five holes to play only to go down by one hole.

Scottish champion Louise Kenney, Kelsey MacDonald and Megan Briggs also lost on a painful afternoon for the Scots.
