Fury, the controversial 29-year-old hoping to make a return to the sport this spring following a two-year ban for testing positive for elevated levels of the banned steroid nandrolone, singled out WBC Silver super lightweight champion Taylor for praise during a question-and-answer session on Twitter this week.

One boxing fan tweeted Fury asking who, in his opinion, was the best prospect in Britain at any weight division to which the Englishman replied: “Tartan Tornado”, the nickname of Taylor.

The 27-year-old Prestonpans puncher was appreciative of this latest glowing endorsement and tweeted back: “Nice to get a wee mention from the champ @Tyson_Fury. What a guy #GypsyKing.”

Taylor has ambitions to win a world title this year but must first overcome former three-weight world champion Humberto Soto of Mexico at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday, March 3.
