Volleyball: City of Edinburgh in command of title race

City of Edinburgh made it nine wins out of nine at the top of the women's SVL Premier with a straight-sets win over capital volleyball rivals NUVOC.

In a tight opening set, City edged it 25-23 and held their game together to close out the win by taking the next two sets 25-18, 25-21.

Su Ragazzi kept out their pursuit with a comfortable 25-17, 25-19, 25-16 win at Aberdonia but City look in an increasingly commanding position at the top.

Edinburgh Jets were given a scare by QTS Troon when they lost the third set and were taken the full distance in the fourth but they came through 25-17, 25-16, 19-25, 26-24.

In the men’s SVL Premier, City of Edinburgh kept hard on the heels of leaders City of Glasgow Ragazzi by beating NUVOC 25-21, 25-16, 25-21.

Edinburgh Jets lost in four sets at defending champions South Ayrshire after taking the first set, 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 15-25.
