Volleyball: City get long haul from Jets

City of Edinburgh were taken the full distance by Capital rivals Edinburgh Jets as they opened their men’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League programme with a 28-26, 23-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-9 win.

Glasgow Mets, the reigning champions, beat Bon Accord in four sets 25-22 25-21 21-25 25-21 on a day when Troon PA pulled off a shock 25-22 26-24 20-25 14-25 15-13 win over Kilmarnock Blaze.

Edinburgh’s NUVOC celebrated their return to the women’s top flight by beating North Lanarkshire 25-16, 18-25, 25-18, 25-12. Champions City of Edinburgh dropped a set to Edinburgh Jets but came through 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 to win.
