Volleyball: City move closer to titles

City of Edinburgh enjoyed a successful weekend in the Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League play-offs as they closed in on silverware.

In the men’s championship play-off semi-finals, Edinburgh lost the first leg of the semi-final play-off to Bon Accord in Aberdeen 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 25-21, 9-15 on Saturday – only their second loss of the season. But the Capital side turned the tables in straight sets in South Queensferry yesterday 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

In the women’s semi-finals, City of Edinburgh also reached the title play-offs with a 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17 win over Edinburgh Jets yesterday. They now meet Troon PA for the title later this month.

City of Edinburgh II are poised to move up to the men’s Division One after coming back from two sets down to beat Troon PA 21-25, 7-25, 25-14, 25-17, 15-4 in the first leg of their promotion play-off in Ayrshire.

The teams meet again this weekend to settle who will be in the top flight next season.
