Volleyball: City shrug off injuries for semi

City of Edinburgh player-coach Barry McGuigan will not be afraid to chop and change his team in a bid for silverware as the volleyball season reaches a critical stage.

Edinburgh, who finished top of the men’s Schelde Sports Scottish League and will be top seeds in the play-offs, know it will count for nothing if they cannot hit form in the weeks ahead.

City of Edinburgh’s injury situation has eased with only Ben Hunter currently sidelined, but that gives McGuigan concerns of finding the right blend on court. Sunday sees them face capital rivals Edinburgh Jets in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Queensferry High. Bon Accord host Kilmarnock in the other semi.

“I will make changes to our versatile squad to maximise our potential,” McGuigan revealed.

In the women’s Scottish Cup semi-finals, City of Edinburgh, despite injury concerns, are strong favourites against second division Dundee. The other semi-final is between North Lanarkshire and holders Troon PA.
