Volleyball: Crunch tie for City of Edinburgh and NUVOC

City of Edinburgh face NUVOC in a Capital derby tomorrow knowing a win is vital to keep the pressure on City of Glasgow Ragazzi at the top of the men's SVL Premier Volleyball League.

City lost at home to defending champions South Ayrshire in straight sets last weekend and it cost them the league leadership.

It is an important spell for them as they contest the first silverware of the season – the John Syer Grand Prix final against Ragazzi on February 14.

NUVOC went down tamely to Ragazzi in their first match back after the festive break and need to start picking up some wins.

Since winning promotion, they have struggled to make an impact in the top flight and sit second-bottom with just two wins from eight matches.

Edinburgh Jets, who have still to win a match in the league, travel to South Ayrshire.

In the women’s SVL Premier, undefeated City of Edinburgh host a NUVOC side that is holding its own in the top division.

Edinburgh Jets will expect to pick up full points at Prestwick Academy against QTS Troon as they build towards their John Syer Grand Prix final against Su Ragazzi next month.
