The 17-year-old from Warrender Baths Club posted a time of 28.24 – at the time a new British record for the 17-year-old age group – in the men’s 50m breaststroke heats on day two at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.

That made him fastest qualifier and gave him lane four for the final of the 17/18 years category race later in the day.

In the process he broke his own British record for the
17-year-old age group.
