World champ Mouat honoured by Caledonian Curling Club
The Murrayfield skip was named Young Curler of the Year and added the Team of the Year gong after becoming world junior champion with Bobby Lammie, Gregor Cannon, Angus Dowell and Robin Brydone in Copenhagen in March. Mouat also landed two national titles last winter, including a third mixed doubles crown with club-mate Gina Aitken, and won the Galbraith Trophy after topping the season-long Scottish Curling Tour rankings. He then stepped up a level when mixing it with the world’s top players at last month’s Champions Cup in Canada.
“I’m very happy obviously,” he saidy. “I didn’t know what to expect, but we had a great season, so to get two awards was amazing. The individual award was the cherry on top really because Bobby (Lammie) and Ross (Whyte) had really good seasons as well. It’s nice to get some recognition and to have people voting for me.”
