Explore Livingston's East Woods with the family this Saturday

WHAT could be more invigorating than an enchanted woodland walk? Nothing? Then West Lothian is the place to be on Saturday.

This weekend there’s a chance to explore a magical woodland that is on your doorstep as Forestry Commission Scotland encourages families to take a trip to East Woods, Livingston, to join Rowanbank Environmental Arts and Education as they take families on a woodland adventure.

Families will join a magical journey through the forest, meeting various characters along the way including musicians, trapeze artists and acrobats.

Lucy Power, artistic director of Rowanbank Environmental Arts and Education, explains, “Families from near and far are invited to join our magical woodland walk.

“There will be lots going on for all the family, for all ages. We want to encourage people to get out and enjoy our green spaces whatever the weather.”

Rowanbank, a not for profit organisation, aims to engage and inspire children and their families to experience nature and help connect them with art and green spaces in an interactive, fun and imaginative way.

A previous walk was described by one walker as “a truly magical journey through the forest, opening up a imaginative world of old folklore and childhood dreams …”

Hugh McNish of Forestry Commission Scotland, adds, “Forestry Commission Scotland is happy to support events that really capture the magic of the forest for the whole family.”

The event will take place come rain or shine so walkers are advised to wear shoes and clothes suitable for woodland terrain and Scottish weather. And please note that paths are bumpy and uneven in some places so may prove tricky or difficult for some pushchairs and wheelchairs.

To take part, walkers should meet in the car park of Quigley House, Craigshill Road, Craigshill, Livingston, where stewards will direct you to the walk.
