Fashion: Summer prints

The high street has caught tropical fever. It’s all about hyper prints on slinky shift dresses, tailored shorts and pyjama pants. Blazers are soft and romantic in fit while heels are high with a hint of toe cleavage.

When selecting an outfit for this season think summer cocktail party.

Tropical birds feature heavily. Opt for parrots and flamingos to inject some colour. Don’t be frightened to pair our flying friends with florals.

Adding a block colour over the top of print clashing helps dilute the madness of an outfit but make sure you are doing it in a bright tone. Hot pinks work well as does a piece of denim to reign in the theme.

Hawaiian shirts tick the trend box. Pop a pair of high top trainers into the mix give a little urban slant to the look.

For a girlier approach let the fluidity of a floral dress create a bit of romance. Adding a shirt over the shoulders is a great alternative to a blazer; if the colours in the dress are a bit more sedate use the shirt to pop a bright tone on top.

Tie dying adds another texture dimension. J Brand jeans have a lovely selection of denims that feature the colour distortion and it works really well sandwiched between a floral shoe and top.

Capri-cut cigarette pants are a must for this trend. They look lovely on their own but to do this trend justice add a top that contradicts the bottom half. Sprinkle on chunky gold jewellery and make sure shoes and handbags don’t fade into the background.
