Inbetweeners star Emily Atack takes on Breakfast at Tiffany's

INBETWEENERS star Emily Atack is unlikely to become typecast any time soon, judging by the jobs she is currently landing.

From the remake of Dad’s Army earlier this year, alongside an all-star cast that included Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bill Nighy, Toby Jones and Michael Gambon, to Iron Sky 2 with comedian Tom Green and Lies We Tell opposite Harvey Keitel, Gabriel Byrne and Gina McKee, there’s no stopping her.

There’s no doubt, however, that the star of TV and screen will, for many, remain best remembered as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the award-winning E4 series The Inbetweeners.

This week at The King’s, the 26-year-old ventures into new territory again as she follows in the shoes of Audrey Hepburn to play the iconic Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s - her stage debut.

Atack replaces Verity Rushworth who was originally advertised in the role but who has had to withdraw, expecting her first child.

Atack says, “I am so flattered and honoured to be playing Holly Golightly; to take such an iconic role as my stage debut is both incredibly exciting and challenging. I plan to have as much fun with it as possible.

“I look forward to getting in front of an audience and going on this journey with them every night.”

Based on Truman Capote’s masterwork, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is set in New York in 1943.

Fred, a young writer from Louisiana, meets Holly Golightly, a charming, vivacious and utterly elusive good-time girl.

Everyone falls in love with Holly, including Fred, but Fred is poor, and Holly’s other suitors include a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil.

As war rages in Europe, Holly begins to fall in love with Fred... just as her past catches up with her.

Director Nikolai Foster, says, “It’s a thrilling prospect to be working with actors who are perfectly suited to the role and will encourage a new generation of theatre goers to share Capote’s beautiful story.”

He adds, “We cannot be sad to be losing Verity as it is for such a happy reason and we all wish her well with her pregnancy.”

Another couple of familiar faces also feature in the cast of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Matt Barber (Atticus Aldridge in Downton Abbey) who plays Fred, and Victor McGuire, best remembered as Jack Boswell in the 80’s sitcom Bread.

The cast is completed by Robert Calvert, Naomi Cranston, Charlie De Melo, Tim Frances, Andrew Joshi, Melanie La Barrie, Sevan Stephan, Katy Allen, and Andy Watkins.
