JINGS! Crivens! Help ma boab! Scotland’s favourite family, The Broons of 10 Glebe Street, Auchenshoogle, come to the Capital next month, the first time in 80 years Granpaw, Paw, Maw, Hen, Joe, Daphne, Maggie, Horace, the Twins and the Bairn, have been brought to life on stage.

In this new adventure by Rob Drummond, Maggie is really, finally, getting married... again.

As the family work together to give her the wedding of her dreams, they all start thinking about their own plans for the future: Joe thinks he should move to London. Horace wants to explore outer space and Daphne and Hen try their hand at internet dating.

But with Maw determined to do anything to keep her brood together in Glebe Street, will Maggie even make it to the Kirk this time?

Inspired by the long-running Sunday Post comic strip, The Broons are Kern Falconer as Granpaw, Still Game’s Paul Riley as Paw ex-river City star Joyce Falconer as Maw, with Tyler Collins as Hen, John Kielty as Joe, Laura Szalecki as Daphne and Kim Allan as Maggie.

Horace is played by Euan Bennet, the Twins by Kevin Lennon and Duncan Brown, and the Bairn by another Still Gme favourite, Maureen Carr.

MUSICAL: MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

On December 4, 1956, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins came together for the first and only time to record at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. Million Dollar Quartet brings that night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, I Walk The Line and Great Balls of Fire.

MARCO Pierre White, the Godfather of British cuisine, launches his latest cookbook, Essentially Marco, over lunch at his recently opened Steakhouse Bar & Grill restaurant in the Hilton Carlton, North Bridge on Saturday.

The event will let fans of the celebrity chef get their cooking tips straight from the man himself.

As well as receiving a signed copy of the book, attendees will enjoy a three-course lunch, all for £35.

Marco says, “Guests at MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Edinburgh will be able to experience some of these cooking techniques during my visit.”

FAMILY: THE MAN WHO FOLLOWED HIS LEGS

AWARD-WINNING Wee Stories’ latest production, The Man who followed his Legs (and kept on walking), finds local actor Scott Hoatson, best known as Blue Stone 42’s Rocket, back in uniform at the Fetival Theatre’s Studio, next week.

Written and directed by Iain Johnstone, The Man who... is a tale of death, loss and the mayhem of the trenches.

It charts the experiences of two local coal-miners during World War One. Both members of the 16th Royal Scots, formed in 1914 by Lieutenant Colonel Sir George McCrae, the pair are part of the first of the footballers’ battalions, which included players and supporters from Hearts and Hibs.

Funny, entertaining and moving, Wee Stories use video images, puppetry, music and performance to bring to life the enormity of the first global conflict for a new generation of young people.
