La La Land Live set for Edinburgh
DESPITE becoming the focus of the biggest faux pas in Oscars' history, or perhaps because of it, everyone is talking about La La Land, a movie that has been described as '˜the film of its generation' and that has captured hearts around the world.
This September La La Land is to be brought to the Capital for a one-off screening on a huge screen, accompanied by a 60-piece orchestra.
Set to be the ultimate immersive experience, the La La Land Live UK tour comes to the Usher Hall on 27 September with tickets going on sale on Friday.
The score for La La Land, composed by Justin Hurwitz who also scored director Damien Chazelle’s previous feature films Guy and Madeleine on a Park Bench and Whiplash, has also received critical acclaim, particularly for the film’s show-stopping songs City of Stars and Audition (The Fools Who Dream).
Described as a reinvention of the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema for modern times, and written and directed by Damien Chazelle, La La Land tells the story of Mia, played by Emma Stone, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, played by Ryan Gosling, a dedicated jazz musician.
Both are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.
Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
The film received 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, winning six, most notably for Best Director, Best Actress, as well as Best Original Song for City of Stars and Best Original Score.
It also won seven categories at the 74th Golden Globe Awards.
Ironically, it’s for the one that got away it will now always be remembered.
