Leithlate art collective set to take over The Walk

LEITHLATE returns on Thursday with a programme filled with visual art, theatre, poetry, live music and film, as well as much anticipated Mural Tours and a brand new Public Poetry Trail.

LeithLate17 festival kicks off with a massive opening night event, which sees art installations, live music and performances taking place across 26 venues on Leith Walk, all of which are free.

There’s no set route, just dip in and out and see what you discover. The night culminates in the LeithLate Afterparty at Henderson Halls near the Foot of the Walk.

The afterparty line-up includes Savage Mansion and Kid Canaveral, plus Lost Map and LeithLate DJs.

The list of venues participating LeithLate17 includes Joseph Pearces, Windsor Buffet, the Old Ambulance Depot, Leith Walk Police Box, Out of the Blue Drill Hall, and Leith Depot.

There’s another chance to party on Saturday night when Club Tropicana comes to the Leith Franklin Cricket Club. Entry is £3 and the party will close Saturday’s celebrations with electro DJ Davie Miller (FiniTribe) plus guests.

Finally, Customs & Excess, the closing party on Sunday staged in collaboration with Custom Lane, Paradigm Electronic Arts, Forest and We Throw Switches, will transform the lane into an all day summer party with DJs and interactive games. Best of all tickets are free.

Other events over the four days include live music from four-piece band Smokin’ Jeffreys’, as well as sound artist Yann Seznec’s unique sound installation,an exhibition of archive photography about the battle of Broughton Street Unemployed Centre a special edition of DJ night Electric Mud.
