Scrub that. Try this instead: Would you pay to meet your favourite movie star? Actually, movie star is interchangeable with pop star, sporting legend or even reality TV celebrity.

Bizarre as it may appear, people do indeed cough up their hard earned cash to meet people who certainly aren’t short of a bob or two.

The VIP experience has become a thing of late. As well as buying tickets to see your favourite band /singer/actor, you can enhance the experience by paying extra to take part in a Meet and Greet - the all important chance to grab a selfie with the star/s in question.

Such perks usually comes in around the £100 mark, with everyone from Dynamo to the Bay City Rollers offering such bonuses in the Capital of late.

No one, however, has quite managed to attract the cash splashed by 20 individuals for the chance to meet Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger at the EICC tonight.

Each has parted with a whopping £1500 to meet the Terminator himself, while others have upgraded their tickets to have a photo with him - a ‘bargain’ at ‘just’ another £545? Let’s hope they don’t blink at the vital moment.

Of course, that price includes a three course meal and the opportunity to watch Arnie being interviewed about his life and career.

Not that Schwarzenegger comes anywhere close to another Hollywood icon who recently visited Scotland. When Godfather and Scarface star Al Pacino visited Glasgow’s SECC, his meet and greet package might only have cost £650 but some paid £7500 to allow them to dine with him at an exclusive and intimate lunch in his hotel before the show.

Well, they do say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, although the saying that comes to my mind is more money than sense.
