On Saturday, Jacobs will be joined by special guest vocalist Catherine Sykes, who has performed with numerous big bands including The Glen Miller Orchestra UK, The Duke Ellington Repertory Orchestra and The Manhattan Orchestra. As testament to her talent, her album Signing In was featured on Humphrey Lyttleton’s Best of Jazz programme on BBC Radio 2, and her latest album, Something Wonderful, puts a fresh, contemporary twist on much loved jazz standards, as Saturday’s audinece will discover. Jacobs, first followed his dream to become a performer while working as a social worker.

Securing a five year tenure fronting the tea-dance band at London’s Waldorf Hotel, he then decided to go into music full -time, only to be offered the job as male vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra in 1991 - he tried for the female vocalist position, but says “the beard gave him away” (Jacobs is also known for his comedy), where he remained for ten years, during which he developed his own shows... one of which he will bring to the Brunton.
