That’s when The League of Gentlemen resurrect their menagerie of grotesque creations live on stage for the first time in more than 12 years.

In a show critics have described as ‘a brilliantly twisted return to the stage’ fans will be delighted to see Steve Pemberton back as the creepy gay German teacher Herr Lipp, pen-obsessed Job Centre employee Pauline and, of course, the iconic Tubbs from the local shop for local people - who gets her own musical number.

Reece Shearsmith will similarly breathe life back into Papa Lazarou, Olly Plimsolls, the embittered director of the afore-mentioned issues-based theatre group and Benjamin, unfortunate nephew of the toad-obsessed Harvey Denton (Pemberton) and vile wife Val (Gatiss).

Mark Gatiss will also reprise tour guide Mick McNamara, bingo-caller Toddy and hopeless pop star Les McQueen.

The League, Shearsmith, Pemberton, Gatiss and fourth off-screen/stage member Jeremy Dyson, first brought their dark, unhinged fictional village of Royston Vasey to the masses in the critically acclaimed BBC Two TV series which originally ran from 1999 to 2002.

Last year it returned to screens for three special twentieth anniversary episodes.

The quartet say, “The League of Gentlemen started as a live show over 20 years ago and in many ways performing in front of an audience gives us the biggest thrill of all.

“We’re overjoyed to be taking the citizens of Royston Vasey on a road-trip and can’t wait to see all the wonderful local places.”
